Put on a party hat, sit on the floor, and hold out your solo cup while I come around with the bottle of sparkling wine, because the results of the 2012 Gummy Awards have arrived! Over the next few days we’ll be announcing your choices for the year’s best television, movies, and viral videos, beginning today with your choices for TV. The most wonderful time of the year. A lot of your opinions held up from last year’s television Gummy Awards — over half of them, actually. That’s good! At the very least it is consistent. Congratulations to all of our favorites, whom we will stand by forever or at least until they are replaced by shows like Homeland — which some of us still have not seen, though we do understand that sometimes you guys get very upset with it on Twitter — and that is all you can ask for in a viewing and voting audience. Because television is so jam-packed with very good stuff lately, too much for anyone to consume entirely, its possible that you won’t see your personal favorites on this list. But as always, please remember that their exclusion doesn’t mean that they aren’t good. It just means that they aren’t winners and that almost everyone hates them and that you’re wrong for liking them. Just please keep that in mind. And with that said, let’s see who won this thing!

10. Girls

8. Louie

7. Community

4. Mad Men

3. Homeland

1. Breaking Bad
And here is the list in text only:
10 Girls
09 American Horror Story
08 Louie
07 Community
06 The Walking Dead
05 Game Of Thrones
04 Mad Men
03 Homeland
02 Parks & Recreation
01 Breaking Bad
Congratulations to 2011 and 2012 Gummys winner Breaking Bad! YOU DESERVE IT! Ugh, you are so good, Breaking Bad, I don’t even care how big of a head you’re going to get from winning The Gummys two years in a row. Do you think you can win next year, too? Probably, right? Congratulations to all of our other winners, as well. Parks and Recreation only keeps getting better. It’s nice to see Homeland finally win something. Lena Dunham, as well, is probably going to be excited that Girls is getting some recognition. So, congrats! Good job, TV! You’re great! See us back here next week for more exciting Gummy Awards results!

You guys, I just watched American Horror Story season one in the past 2 weeks and oh my goodness it is so good despite horribly written dialogue and Ryan Murphy’s gay characters being so problematically stereotypical!
It was my understanding that all of his characters that aren’t straight white dudes are stereotypical as hell.
Yes all the women are HYSTERical.
That can’t be right; his straight white male characters are stereotypes, too!
I concur.
I mean, yes. But also, and maybe my ears are a little bit more attuned to this than the other horrible stereotypes and convenient tropes that Murphy falls back on (hello mystical pregnancy!), it seemed WAY more egregious with the gay characters.
Zachary Quinto as an interior decorating-obsessed bitchy queen whose boyfriend cheats on him with twinks at the gym in leather suits because gay men JUST CAN’T KEEP IT IN THEIR PANTS? Like, cooooommmoooooonnnnnnn.
Maybe I only expected more because Murphy is married and gay and you’d think he’d have more of an interest in portraying well rounded queerfolk but then again, also, GLEE.
I really enjoyed season one, but this current season has been horrible.
Haven’t watched it yet. Something something aliens something something?
Aliens, Nazis, serial killers, demons, nuns, zombies.
I forgot to vote
me too. but our votes don’t matter! – the public
Welcome to Obama’s America.
I haven’t seen the latest season of Boardwalk, yet but I’ve heard great things. Surprised to see it got left off.
Quick qeustion, but how did the Walking Dead make it on the list? Did it suddenly become watchable?
“Question”, you know what I mean.
Gabe’s silence speaks VOLUMES!
(Stereogum).
I actually do think that the current season of the Walking Dead is great!
The first season was decent, the second season was awful, but this season has killed off a lot of the people that were annoying and brought in enough new characters to keep it interesting. How can you not love Michonne?
There is still PLENTY of stuff to make fun of, but I genuinely can’t wait until it starts back up again in February.
I have to agree with costco. I was all ready to hate the sh** out of season 3 after the travesty that was season 2, but it is actually kinda compelling. Best season yet.
For the record people (and I know you care!) My list is:
08 RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars
07 Girls
06 Community
05 30 Rock
04 Parks and Rec
03 Community
02 Mad Men
01 3 way TIE (yes I CAN gays do lots of 3 ways!) Breaking Bad/Homeland/Game of Thrones
You forgot The New Normal

I’d like Community if it weren’t for Danny Penguin.
How dare you.
I know a special birthday monster who will be very very excited about #10.
Happy early birthday Gary Hotspur!
Oh man, I just saw this now. It’s beautiful! In its way.
Thank you very much.
Breaking Bad. Oh man. I keep forgetting about it, and then I’m reminded of it, and then I want the final 8 episodes in my face so bad right now. Vicious circle.
No “The League” what are you people thinking?!
The League is my new Thursday night champion. Is it just me or has Parks and Rec been kind of lacking this season? Leslie and Ben hooked up and now it’s kinda boring and the Ron Swanson jokes are getting repetitive.
Agreed. The engagement happened, and then everything fizzled.
There seems to be no major narrative this season, beyond “Tom Gets a Small Business”, which feels like more of a B story.
(White) Girls
Justified. Raylan Givens has swag.
Totally voted for Justified. Nobody talks about that show, and it’s a goddamn shame.

Yes! I was hoping it would show up huge.
Boooooooooooooooooo!
Breaking Bad jumped the shark? What exactly does a show have to do in your eyes to NOT jump the shark?
Boo to no Boardwalk Empire.
I’m starting to get the feeling it’s time to break down and try out Homeland though, it’s starting to reach that level of duel friend/media hype.
This season Walking Dead has definitely been legit, though. Just as Breaking Bad probably was the best show of the year.
theres no need for the probably. Breaking Bad was the best show of the year. Left every other show in the dust. Its at the point now, where even something as insanely brilliant as Mad Men, is playing 2nd fiddle to BB.
BB is the greatest show of all time. Period. Its the greatest cast and crew and band of writers ever assembled. I almost feel embarassed for every show not titled Breaking Bad.
The show is that good
What I loved is that I LOVE Breaking Bad, and so to read a comment so feverishly adamant about its level of quality really made me go, “God I love that show. It is one of the best shows ever.”
Then to scroll down to see a reply that is just a .gif of Bunk shaking his head and walking away made me go, “I love that show too! It is one of the best shows ever!”
The Wire. Breaking Bad. Two of the best shows ever. Hopefully Breaking Bad’s ending will just NAIL it, really cementing it as something someone on a messageboard or comments string six years from now can post kindred gifs of Jesse shaking his head and walking away as someone gushes over how much they like some new show we haven’t seen yet.
OMG, im 50 years late in voting and 20 years late in commenting but what about the Newsroom? Ive just started injecting it into my eyeballs and I love it!
