After what feels like 100 strained years of being NBC’s highest rated scripted series, our pals in Scranton, PA are finally hanging up their The Office. “Nooooooooo!” Greg Daniels will be taking over again for next season — the FINAL season — and spoke with EW about what we can expect:

“This year feels like the last chance to really go out together and make an artistic ending for the show that pays off a lot of the stuff that matters most to fans,” Daniels said. “This will be the last season of The Office. And we’re planning a very big exciting last season. We’re going to have a lot of faces coming back … There are a lot of things that I’ve personally been wanting to do since season two … All questions will be answered this year. We’re going to see who’s behind the documentary … Now that we know we have an end date we can blow things up and take some chances and it will be very freeing, creatively.”

Questions will be answered! WE ARE FINALLY GOING TO SEE WHO’S BEHIND THE DOCUMENTARY! Hahaha. Ahhhhhh! The documentary! Finally, all of the time we’ve spent watching The Office will pay off when we finally know who is behind that darn documentary. Do you think it is Michael Scott’s mom? I don’t want to spoil it potentially, but do you think it’s Pam? Is Pam behind the documentary? Remember when Pam quit art school and then just, like, worked at The Office again? Was that because of the documentary? Can’t wait to see. I do sincerely hope this final season is better than the last 45 seasons have been because Lord knows we are all going to have to watch it no matter what. (Also, and this is certainly more heartbreaking, WORK OF ART HAS BEEN CANCELED!) (What are we going to marathon watch over the holidays at our parents houses?!) (R.I.P.)

  2. Duh Aficionado Magazine:The Office WIll Not Have An “Artistic Ending”

  3. This actually makes me sad. I always hoped they’d just keep going, kind of like Neil Young. I don’t always like the new albums Neil puts out, but I’m glad he’s doing it. #greatanalogy

  4. Spoiler alert:

  5. The twist is that M. Night Shyamalan has been shooting the documentary the whole time.

  6. so they’re ramping up the drama to put a period at the end of this show’s figurative sentence. suck it, Julian Fellows.

  7. It’s sad to see something once good end as something not just bad but anathema to the good thing it once was. Oh well, looking forward 2 M. Kaling taking over Parks & Rec, more cupcake plots! More jolkes! More scarves!

  8. I loved Work of Art

  9. this newest season was def the best
