NERD ALERT! CALLING ALL NERDS! Did you guys know that HBO has an interactive Game of Thrones map on its site that gets updated after every episode? Yes? No? Do you like it? NERDS?
One does not simply websurf over to HBO.com.
Hokey religions and ancient printed press are no match for a good interactive map at your site.
Speaking of the Game of Thrones television program’s ongoing plot (not the book, please! no spoilers), I have a question about Snow and the Night’s Watchmen– What exactly are they doing north of the Wall again? I cannot for the life of me remember why they’re marching around up there. Something about Wildlings, or because of that dead guy that Snow killed with fire, or…?
I was wondering that too. I know in the books (sorry) that it was something about finding Uncle Stark and seeing what’s the deal with the Wildlings, but I can’t seem to remember the show making it clear. Maybe it did at the end of last season.
Thanks, smokey marcella! Your vague knowledge mirrors my own, therefore reinforcing it, but I did not catch a mention of an Uncle Stark, but lawblog confirmed it below.
Anyway, Teamwork! You guys rule! I can’t wait to see some (hopefully) wintery, bloody action in this week’s episode!
They hear that the wildlings are possibly amassing and that there’s walking dead and other spooky things beyond the wall, plus there’s a bunch of missing rangers, including Benjen Stark, so they go off to find out what’s going on.
There it is! Thanks, lawblog.
I didn’t even realize there was a missing Stark! But now that you mention it, didn’t Ned mention Benjen to Jon before they parted ways in season 1?
It says (on that site) that they are there to fortify the area because they expect to be attacked. It does not say by what/whom such an attack could be expected. I read over the whole site and I’m still a little confused. I hope there’s no quiz
This is very nerdy, but also very helpful, as it is very difficult to keep up with all the names and locations and houses and whatnot if you’ve never read the books.
On that note, am I the only one who completely misjudged where Qarth was? This whole time I thought it was just across the Narrow Sea from Westros (Jesus Christ, I can’t believe I’m writing this as an adult), but now I realize it is literally the furthest corner of the map (waaaay bottom right). Good to know.
It’s only a day’s journey as the astrolabe flies.
Astrolabe? Is that space-slang for “alien vagina”?
It’s that gyroscopic sun thing from the opening credits.
Gyroscopic? Is that space-slang for “alien lap dance”?
