So stirring. So powerful. This is what will play at my wedding for the first dance. When I hear it, I feel like nothing can stop us. My heart swells and all of the barriers fall away. You and me forever. Nothing can stop us. Let them try! With this glorious music, I thee wed. P.S. “You” are a velociraptor. (Via @maaxsilvestri.)

  1. “Too derivative.” – John Williams.

  2. God creates dinosaurs. God destroys dinosaurs. God creates man. Man destroys God. Man creates dinosaurs. Man creates beautiful music.

  3. You wouldn’t think that a Melodica cover of the Jurassic Park theme song would make me laugh till I cry, but nature found a way.

  4. Finally, the age old question of “What would the Jurassic Park theme sound like when sung by ducks in their death throes” has been answered!

  5. I tried to shut this off half way through, but then this popped up:

Then, I held on to my butt.

    • Just a general note: “Then, I held on to my butt” is the perfect coda to any and every story. We should all use this, all the time.

      • Wouldn’t recommend it ALL the time. I tried it once while delivering a eulogy. Everybody looked at me like I had lost my mind.

Then I held onto my butt.

  6. “That’s right people. I still exist.” – John Popper

  7. Your musicians were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should.

  8. Still sounds better than Muse.

  9. Fife finds a way.

  10. Look at this. See? See? I’m right again. Nobody could’ve predicted that someone would cover this song with a melodica. See, here I’m now sitting by myself, uh, er, talking to myself. That’s, that’s music theory.

  11. A great way to start Wednesday morning, or the greatest way?

  12. SO MANY SPIELBERG FACES!

  13. the images are of the incredible original and the melodica is representative of the quality and motivations behind the sequels. this is just brilliant cinema criticism.

  14. “I quit!”

  15. This made me laugh more than most anything else on Videogum ever has.

You need the long running situational headslapping looooooools, because those add color to life (feel free to quote me in your book), but sometimes what you need more is to be surprised by lighthearted absurdity, laugh for a few spins in your desk chair, and then wipe your tears and move on with life.

  16. Heresy. HERESY.

  17. it is just….perfect.
