They’re baaaaaaaaack! Most of our old friends and one of our new acquaintances returned to our homes last night, and it was wonderful. We haven’t seen 30 Rock in forever! Unfortunately, and I hate to open on a bummer, the episode wasn’t especially great. Both Jenna and Kenneth had some funny lines (“Show me Jack’s penis.”), but it didn’t really HIT to me overall. I don’t think I’ll ever really stop liking the 30 Rock style of nonstop weirdo jumpy jokes, but it does seem like it’s getting a little worn. Still nice to see it back, though! I hope it gets better! What made the episode seem even less good to me was when Parks and Recreation began and was immediately so much better. One thing I really like about the show right now is how Aubrey Plaza’s character isn’t so one-note. It’s maybe a minor thing, but the fact that she actually smiles and talks in normal sentences sometimes makes everything A LOT more bearable. I’m also happy that Adam Scott remains a main character. He is great! The claymation video? Give me a break. It’s funny because we’ve ALL been there. My one complaint is how the episode opened with Leslie giving Anne one of her, “Beautiful, stupid Anne” type lines, because to go for it right away like that seemed kind of like they were transparently going for a thing they know people like, which is what you’re supposed to do when you’re trying to please people, I understand, and it is possibly the tiniest thing I could choose to complain about, but the rest of the episode was great so what else am I even supposed to say? Also, it looked like it hurt a lot when Pistol Pete fell on the ice! The Office was good. A friend came over halfway through and asked what was going on and I said, “Well Andy needs $800 to meet his quota for the quarter or something so they’re trying to win it in a trivia contest at a gay bar in Philadelphia,” which made me a little upset to have to say, but whatever. Now that Jim and Pam are married and boring they have to do SOMETHING. And I continue to enjoy Robert California. Up All Night was surprisingly not bad. It did seem out of place on the Thursday lineup, but only in a totally bearable way. Plus it’s on last so you don’t ever have to watch it if you don’t want to! WHAT DID YOU THINK?

  1. You forgot to talk about how great Rob was.

  2. I would totally go to a restaurant called the Low-Cal Calzone Zone.

  3. The cherry on top of the Thursday Night Sundae would have been an episode of Community, followed by a proliferation of Alison Brie gifs.

    *sigh* Alison Brie gifs…

*FLW stares wistfully into the distance as “Easy Like Sunday Morning” starts playing. Fade to black and credits roll.*

  4. Adam Scott in the Letters to Cleo shirt and Doc Martens? High school me was SWOONING.

  5. I have a special place in my heart for 3 legged dogs. I really hope Champion is a regular character. Even if he is bad at digging.

    • This was my second favorite line of the night. My first favorite was, “Maybe I’m in a good mood because I’m not being weighed down by redundant torso fabric.”

  6. I actually guffawed at the end of Ben’s claymation video. The last time I laughed that hard at Parks and Rec was when Andy puked on Kyle’s shoes in “The Fight.”

  7. I’ve been enjoying Up All Night, and it definitely fits better on Thursday than say…Whitney. Anything that puts more Maya Rudolph into my eyes is certainly a good thing.

  8. I like Up All Night!

  9. paddy’s pub on parks and rec!?

  10. Sorry I’m late. This thread posted way earlier than I was expecting!

    • “Now when you Google Jenna Maroney, I come up instead of the Jenna Maroney who electrocuted all those horses.”

      “That was you, Jenna.”

  11. Jump back up your mother.

  12. Thursday night TV is LITERALLY my favorite tv.

  13. Also Steve Carell was back on the office:

  14. I laughed at how Ben pronounced calzone in an Italian accent.

  15. Who watched Jersey Shore? Aren’t you so upset by Vinny? We can all agree Deena is a terrible person and it would be fine if she died, right? And where was the unit?! He was so great in the first episode, and now, nothing. Come on MTV! Make some drama!

  16. I like Up All Night! The tag-team of Maya Rudolph, Will Arnett and Christina Applegate (yes, Christina Applegate) is great. Please give it a chance so they don’t cancel it.

P.S. The best way to get me to commit suicide is by making me watch Whitney, Chelsea and 2 Broke Girls back to back. Chelsea Handler and whoever made 2 Broke Girls are ruining television!
