Jon Stewart appeared on FOX News yesterday for his annual on-air takedown of the mainstream media. He called Chris Wallace a lunatic and explained that he is a comedian. See you next year!

  1. “No I’m not.”

    “Yes you are.”

    “No I’m not.”

    “Yes you are.”

    “No I’m not.”

    “Yes you are…”

  2. So did he see his shadow or not?

(yeah. That was a half assed attempt. Sorry guys, I will go back to the jokes gym and try to get back into joke fighting form.)

  3. In Grade Ten, I wrote a lengthy fanfiction entitled Dawn of the Bears in which Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert fell in love while battling a bear invasion.

Reader response was so great that I wrote a sequel in which Stephen was kidnapped and tortured by Anderson Cooper.*

I was a very lonely teenager.

  4. Is there anything more entertaining than watching John Stewart appear on FOX News? Seriously. Dude could rip through the relentlessly flawed logic of the phone book and I’d love it. He usually has a jokey manner about himself, even in heated debates, but he turned gravely serious in that one segment about misinformed viewers and really pounded the point home. Sublime.

  5. I’m pretty sure this is a monthly occurrence at this point, not annual, which makes me want to point out the law of diminishing returns. As Gabe has pointed out before, the “I’m just a comedian” schtick is trite and a little bit sad to hear, but he does have a point — Comedy Central has never, nor has The Daily Show, fought to the death to pretend that they are a legitimate news outlet that’s *not* just producing red meat for intellectual liberals. To say that it doesn’t matter that he’s biased because he’s just a comedian is false, but to say that somehow makes him an equivalent to Fox News is even moreso.

    • I think this interview was good for that assertion that he hides behind being a comedian. His filter for what’s airtime worthy is what is funny or absurd. The jokes he makes are then biased to the left. Makes perfect sense.

The thing is, if he is hiding behind being a comedian, what is Fox? Naked in their bias as a news organization.

  6. I just like that he admitted he has a bias, but that it informs his COMEDY, not his POLITICAL AGENDA. That he has sway is a testament to the truths he exposes, NOT to his ability to convince the idle potheads he commands that his “political views” are better than Fox “News.”

  7. “How can you say you’re not an activist when there are so many dick jokes on Comedy Central?”

    (Chris Wallace rests his case!)

  8. “I had to watch South Park! Eric Cartman’s Mom is a Dirty Slut parts 1 and 2!”

DUde. That was the SEASON 1 finale of South Park. That was 13 YEARS ago. Chris Wallace didn’t watch shit.

  9. I love it. He can hide behind that argument all he wants, because it’s a very good argument.
