Pretty sad news today, you guys. From the Hollywood Reporter:
Arnold Schwarzenegger is putting the brakes on his acting career in the wake of the unfolding scandal surrounding the child he fathered while married to Maria Shriver. The former California governor’s lawyer Patrick Knapp released a statement Thursday saying that Schwarzenegger will not be acting in the immediate future.
“At the request of Arnold Schwarzenegger, we asked Creative Artists Agency to inform all his motion picture projects currently underway or being negotiated to stop planning until further notice,” the statement reads. “Gov. Schwarzenegger is focusing on personal matters and is not willing to commit to any production schedules or timelines. This includes Cry Macho, the Terminator franchise and other projects under consideration. We will resume discussions when Gov. Schwarzenegger decides.”
Oh no! Not all of his acting projects! Obviously, all of our thoughts and prayers are with Arnold Schwarzenegger and his illegitimate family during this difficult time, but a real artist wouldn’t let some personal business get in the way of his craft. A real artist would know that the work was the most important, always. To make matters worse, this is really going to affect the way we all watch his previous performances, because now we know that he was never acting because of a burning need to perform coursing through his veins, it was just about the money, or the girls, or the fertile household servants. Heartbreaking, really, I’m sure. I mean, you guys, this means even his new animated series, The Governator, has been put on hold. The Governator! Let’s watch the trailer for The Governator again and imagine what might have been:
Sad day. For art. We can only hope that Arnold Schwarzenegger goes on some sort of spirit quest and finds himself reunited with his creative center and the passion that brought him to projects like Jingle All the Way and other projects in the first place.
