Pretty sad news today, you guys. From the Hollywood Reporter:

Arnold Schwarzenegger is putting the brakes on his acting career in the wake of the unfolding scandal surrounding the child he fathered while married to Maria Shriver. The former California governor’s lawyer Patrick Knapp released a statement Thursday saying that Schwarzenegger will not be acting in the immediate future.

“At the request of Arnold Schwarzenegger, we asked Creative Artists Agency to inform all his motion picture projects currently underway or being negotiated to stop planning until further notice,” the statement reads. “Gov. Schwarzenegger is focusing on personal matters and is not willing to commit to any production schedules or timelines. This includes Cry Macho, the Terminator franchise and other projects under consideration. We will resume discussions when Gov. Schwarzenegger decides.”

Oh no! Not all of his acting projects! Obviously, all of our thoughts and prayers are with Arnold Schwarzenegger and his illegitimate family during this difficult time, but a real artist wouldn’t let some personal business get in the way of his craft. A real artist would know that the work was the most important, always. To make matters worse, this is really going to affect the way we all watch his previous performances, because now we know that he was never acting because of a burning need to perform coursing through his veins, it was just about the money, or the girls, or the fertile household servants. Heartbreaking, really, I’m sure. I mean, you guys, this means even his new animated series, The Governator, has been put on hold. The Governator! Let’s watch the trailer for The Governator again and imagine what might have been:

Sad day. For art. We can only hope that Arnold Schwarzenegger goes on some sort of spirit quest and finds himself reunited with his creative center and the passion that brought him to projects like Jingle All the Way and other projects in the first place.

  1. This is a dangerous development, you guys. Remember what happened the last time an Austrian artist with political ambitions was kept from practicing his craft?

  2. How can you say he’s not a true artist when he’s repped by the Creative ARTISTS Agency?????????

  3. I know this is a tough time for him and he needs to focus on his family and all, but…no eye-rolling usage of “I’ll Be Back” in the press release? Guys, now I’m worried about Arnold…

  4. It’s gonna be rough for a while. This whole scandal has forced his focus & drive into a downward spiral. For the past few days, he’s been sleeping on his gold couch, smoking swisher sweets instead of expensive cigars, actually PAYING women for sex instead of forcing himself on them, and eating decade-old Planet Hollywood meals that he’s kept in the meat freezer. Pull yourself together, man!

  5. The discontinued production of Cry Macho makes me want to cry mucho.

  6. For some reason when I read this article I was picturing a giant factory churning out Arnold movies and merchandise. Suddenly a frazzled looking guy wearing a fedora with a “press” card stuck in the brim runs in and screams “STOP THE PRESSES!” and everything comes to a grinding halt, spraying newsprint and half-assembled terminator action figures everywhere. The next morning the story is broke by a little boy wearing an oversized vest and driving cap, yelling “Extree! Extree! Governator gives ‘no go’! No More Moving Pictures for Mr. Macho! Read all about it!”

  7. Would you say his projects have been…

    Terminated?

  8. i am all for making fun of arnold shwarzenTL-DR, but really all i want to know today is when are we going to celebrate the cancellation of Outsourced? Can we make this the focal point of an already pared down Thursday Night TV Open Thread? PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE?

  10. At least he took the blame for this, though. He could have easily said she was having an affair with his twin brother instead.

  11. I’m not a fan, besides the fact that Terminator 2 is my favorite movie. AND I very much like Terminator 3! And Twins….and True Lies. But that’s it. And Total Recall, obviously. Definitely not beyond that. Eraser. That one too. But tie this to the roof, I’m done. Well, Junior is pretty cute and non threatening… and Kindergarten C–aww fuck.

  12. Arnold must have learned from Tiger how beneficial it is to put the brakes on your career the same time that your family ties are being cut.

  13. Oh, it is very bad. But still I hope that he will be back on a big screen. I want to see him starring in Cry Macho. By the way I dowenloaded the book Cry Mach from http://www.torrentoff.com for free. I enjoy it. You may also download other media for free from this site.
