Meet your new hero: Jeffrey!

Now, because Jeffrey is a hero to us all, I don’t really have to explain this to anyone, but still, just to clarify, we didn’t choose* this young man as our hero just because he wrote and performed this amazing and strange and beautifully done Beyonce parody. And it wasn’t because of his other fabulous online performances. Jeffery became our hero when we witnessed his deft handling of the predictably horrible YouTube comments on his videos. His self-possession and goodhearted determination to fulfill his dreams won him our allegiance.

Even in the midst of the worst, our hero prevails!

Perfect!

Also, he is quite an impressive singer, as demonstrated in this cover of “So Much Better” from Legally Blonde (courtesy of werttrew):

Perhaps his skill as a sound engineer could use some work, but I’m pretty sure that it’s mentioned somewhere in The Iliad that Achilles was a crappy plumber**. All heroes have weaknesses.

Anyway, I think we should all go to the YouTubes and proffer our various bows, swords, and axes, so Jeffrey can lead us into the battle for self-actualization. Take it away, Jeffrey!

*Or, did he choose us?
**Also, he had that heel thing.

  1. Ok, I’m starting the countdown to his inevitable guest-appearance on Glee…. now.

  2. You go, goose!

  3. I do not mean this in a sarcastic way at all but he really is inspiringly confident, like at 11 I was nowhere near that sure of myself, I still am not now and I am more than twice that age

  4. I’m going to hold off on deciding how to feel until eega weighs in.

  5. ALL OF THE AWARDS, YOUNG MAN. ALL OF THE AWARDS TO YOU.

Honorary Monster Mascot of the Week, yeah?

  6. I kept waiting for 50 cent to walk in.

  7. This kid is clearly an all-time champ but also I am so glad I didn’t have Youtube when I was growing up. I would not have handled it with half the grace that Jeffrey has.

  8. I have a wicked strong feeling this kid is from Boston! Yay Boston!

  9. Sorry for the technical difficulties. All of the videos are up now!

  10. This kid is rad for real, but I want to offer a word of caution. Do not gaze long into the youtube comments, lest the youtube comments gaze back into you! Take heed!

  11. “It’s people like you whose dreams won’t come true” is the new “STFU.”

  12. Man, if I ever get born, I hope I’ll be born that way.

  13. Wait, not being a bully is the key to making it to Broadway? Guys, I retract all previously stated opinions. I’m gonna be in Rent!

  14. This kid is the best. Bullying is the worst. I was mysteriously always left alone, but so many close people in my life are still dealing with it well into their twenties.

    • I don’t know, I think some people reap the benefits of bullying even into their middle ages…

P.S. Anybody ever notice the similarities between Biff Tannen and Donald Trump? Remarkable!

  15. Even when performing Legally Blonde’s “So Much Better” for their musical YouTube channel, a true Red Sox fan displays their loyalty. (Or, as is true of many a New England lad, those are the only kinds of T-shirts his parents have ever purchased for him.)

  16. I can’t wait to see the movie which will make an inevitable holiday season run for a best picture award. “Don’t miss the triumphant tale of one boy taking on You Tube Commentors and Winning”

  17. This is what happens when you DON’T let your children play with fucking dead rat squirrels can I get a HEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLL YEAH!

  18. Just wanted to say thanks for making Jeffrey your hero. He truly loves doing what he does, whether it is singing a parody, a Broadway hit or a pop song, his passion shines through. Most people have been supportive rather than negative and we appreciate you joining those who stand behind him.

  19. This made me so happy I’m just gonna shamble through this comment thread like a 1 year old flower girl, scattering upvotes like rose petals.

  20. I need to find this child and become best friends with him immediately!!!!

  21. Jeffrey’s got the goods. The only thing that concerns me (and I’m being serious), is when he hits puberty and his voice drops past the vocal range he’s been accustomed to. I’m pretty confident he’ll just go with it though.

  22. I don’t know how to make gifs, but I do know that I hope to see Jeffrey dancing in the Monster’s Ball thread on Friday! This kid is the best.
