I know I’ve been very hard on Russell Brand. I’m not mad at him, you see, just as a fan of comedians from the United Kingdom, I was disappointed by his introduction to the United States. But you know, Russell Brand needs to have his leather pants dry-cleaned just like everyone else (probably more, actually). The Russmeister appeared on Craig Ferguson’s show last night, and was actually pretty charming with his story of American hillbillies reading Chomsky and his manic-yet-earnest energy and his first-time-ever being self-deprecating on American TV:
Maybe this whole thing has been a big misunderstanding caused by how much MTV sucks the originality out of anything it touches. Or, more likely, Craig Ferguson is just a really great talk show host.

Who’s Craig Ferguson?
Honestly, I don’t think he can help that smile. He’s just a really happy guy.
He was pretty good there, and I’ve heard a few good bits from him. But I just can’t stand that big cheesy smile he has to make after every joke. Like “look at me, aren’t I outraaaaaageous??”
Otherwise, likable enough, and a worthy inheritor of Simon Gallup’s hairstyle.
has this man but one outfit? i mean, its a fine outfit… but has he but the one?
he’s a funny guy though… dandy and victorian and dorian-gray-esque…
all the things i love
I’m pretty sure that Craig Ferguson is NOT a really great talk show host, unless you are comparing him to Jimmy Kimmel or Carson Daly.
Outside of “Sarah Marshall,” I’ve only seen this guy in clips on here, but I’m pretty sure he’s the British Dane Cook…funny enough at first, but then later, you realize that his observations are all pretty lame…It makes me wonder if there’s some sort of underground “comedy magic” class where you learn how to hypnotize people with manic energy while you tell stale, boring jokes
that russell brand kerouac journey is all on youtube and its pretty good. this was a good russell brand appearance- he was more similar to how he is on his radio show, which is where he is best
I’d like to echo the previous commenter (different person, honest) in saying that although he’s usually pretty good on shows like this, he mainly shines on his radio show and the aforementioned documentary. Basically, not the British Dane Cook.
Brand’s best stuff is unplanned. I don’t rate him as a comedy writer at all. But, when left to improvise (or even in general conversation), he’s extremely quick witted and hilarious to listen to. His personality lends itself to interviews like this, though his best stuff, as others have said, is his radio show with Matt Morgan. Matt’s nothing special on his own, but he’s pretty much the perfect foil for Russell. It’s easily the best podcast around right now.
wow… in this video Russell Brand look not his best… if i saw im in my dreams it would turn to be a nightmare i suppose
