This is a ’70s Christian ska band called “Sonseed,” singing a song called “Jesus Is My Friend” to that shag-danceable ska music. From the costumes to the singer to the lyrics in which Jesus is apparently stalking him, why it wasn’t the very first thing anyone ever put up on the internet is a mystery. It’s amazing:
Once I tried to run
I tried to run and hide
But Jesus came and found me
And touched me down inside
There’s also a mention of Mounties, so it might even be Canadian! This must be seen to be believed:

Via Dougsploitation, who apparently owned the videotape for years and just now got it digitized for the internet’s pleasure. I would love to find out what that singer’s doing now (and whether Jesus is still his friend.)

Wow. What can I say, that was awesome. Thank you.
wow. out of all the possible things that i could possibly say about this video, i still have to say that i just think its weird that they are such good friends with someone they never met.
You say “ska,” I say “polka.”
“Zap!”
Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha, that was genius. I’ll probably watch this again.
Skanin’ for the lord. I really need a Sonseed shirt now.

I always figured Jesus was Canadian.
My brother was the drummer for Sonseed. He is no longer with us, so you can imagine how wild it is to see that clip!
I remember when that was on TV… and yes, we all had Sonseed t SHIRTS… and there were groupies, too!
Oh my god this is my favorite thing ever.
