I rarely think things are the worst, but this truly is. I seen’t it. Not only is it terrible, it’s a straight rip off of South Park’s “Biggest Douche in the Universe” episode.
Actually, It was a mix of two South Park episodes- “Biggest Douche In the Universe” and “Cartman’s Incredible Gift,” where Cartman jumps off a roof with homemade wings, injures his head, and then thinks he’s psychic.
Even the worst-er.
I saw the clip, and honestly don’t think it was that much of a deal. So a person with down syndrome says her mom was the former governor of Alaska. “OMG! POINTED POLITICAL COMMENTARY!” — America. But I guess this goes with the whole aesthetic of Family Guy humor in that just a reference with no context is supposed to get laffz.
For someone who doubts man’s evolution from the apes, she sure flings a lot of poo.
Family guy is gonna need a bigger reset button. He is so way past satire their isn’t even a word for what he does. I picture it sounding like a drunken dude-bro throwing up on the first amendment.
Double uugh. Though, I must admit, as much as I hate Seth McFarlane, I do watch American Dad from time to time and find it funny. Please don’t hurt me monsters.
Thank you for saying that! American Dad is a million times funnier than Family Guy, and I have no idea why! They both prominently feature Seth MacFarlane, who is the worst of course, but maybe he doesn’t have as much creative control on American Dad? That’s the only explanation that seems to make sense because he obviously has EVERYTHING to do with Family Guy.
Also, I think Videogum should have a Sunday night open thread like we have for Thursday for those of us who still watch The Simpsons and American Dad, and also hate-watch Family Guy.
Can we also hate-watch The Cleveland Show? It may not be as offensive as Family Guy, but it’s so damn awful.
The Cleveland Show must be the most pointless half hour on tv. It’s barely even worth hate-watching. I think Seth MacFarlane just needed an outlet for all the black jokes he had constantly running through his head.
I’m down if we can also talk about The Amazing Race and how its secretly full of the best commentary on modern American life currently airing on TV.

This semester, in mu History and Theory of Animation class, I am required to write a blog (a blog!). I had refrained from discussing Family Guy because, up until recently, I felt it was too unimportant, there were plenty of other cartoons/works to discuss. Then my professor asked me if I watched it. I promptly blogged that Family Guy was “a festering pile of severed dog cocks” and explained why.

For what it’s worth, they didn’t specifically “make fun” of her. In fact, the outcome of the episode was Chris coming to the realization that Down Syndrome should not affect how we judge a person, since he learned she was also a total jerk — a character trait that can afflict people regardless of DS.
But yeah, a pretty crappy episode.
